American society is characterized by dynamic change and innovation. It is an exciting challenge to stay abreast of advancements in science, technology, and ethics. Recent events have punctuated the rich diversity within American culture while new directions are emerging daily. Philosophical freedom of expression is often translated into negative responses in our communities. Secularists marginalize God and persons of faith are frequently discounted. Therefore, some faculty associated with our universities and professional entrepreneurs in our communities have joined together under the offices of the Sciphre Institute with a mission to examine the ethics of these trends. Together we are committed to promoting balanced inquiry in science, philosophy and religion through: Representing a broader understanding of science. Reaffirming the compatibility of science and religion in current society. Emphasizing the importance of philosophical and spiritual positions in academia. Providing consultation on the spiritual dimension of personal character. |
